Gail Leftin:

Little Red Wagon PlaySchool originated in my home in 1991. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University and my Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University. I am also a certified Orton-Gillingham reading therapist. Prior to opening Little Red Wagon PlaySchool, I tutored children with dyslexia in reading, writing and spelling. I opened Little Red Wagon PlaySchool in Newton, Massachusetts in the summer of 1998. Reed Donahue and I shared a vision and Little Red Wagon PlaySchool Sudbury opened in September 2005. It has been a “dream come true”!


Reed Donahue:

I was first introduced to Little Red Wagon PlaySchool as a parent. Since then, I have been an Assistant Teacher, Substitute Teacher and Assistant Director. This year, Gail and I became partners and are excited to be opening Little Red Wagon PlaySchool Sudbury together. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from St. Michael’s College in Vermont. In 1997, I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College. I have experience working with children from infancy – at a crisis nursery – to teenager – in schools and residential centers.

About Us:

Our school is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care as a Group Day Care facility. This is our story:

1991: The initial Little Red Wagon PlaySchool began in Gail’s home in Needham, Massachusetts. It served as a toddler-preschool program for seven years.

June 1998: Gail expands Little Red Wagon PlaySchool to Newton, Massachusetts. This Newton location consists of 3 preschool classes.

September 1998: Reed and Gail meet as Reed enrolls her oldest son in Little Red Wagon PlaySchool. Reed forms Little Red Wagon’s first Parent Committee.

August 2000: our Newton school receives accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

June 2002: Reed’s youngest daughter “graduates” from Little Red Wagon PlaySchool

September 2002: Reed joins Little Red Wagon PlaySchool as Assistant Director

September 2005: Reed and Gail together open Little Red Wagon PlaySchool Sudbury.
