A Typical Day

8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.: Early Arrival. Choice of activities available in the early morning classroom.

9:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.: Arrival. Greetings are exchanged. Children participate in sharing their News of the Day, as well as morning sign in routines. Children have a choice of activities set up around the room to engage in.

9:15 a.m. - 9:35 a.m.: Morning Meeting. This is a greeting meeting and an opportunity to discuss the happenings of the day.

9:35 a.m. - 10:35 a.m.: Activity Time. Children and staff are actively engaged in on-going activities. Teachers meet with children individually and in small groups to work on special projects. Typical activities during the day will incorporate art, literature, baking, blocks, music and dramatic play.

10:00 a.m.: Snack. Wash hands. Snack is offered to all children on a rotating basis throughout the morning activity time.

10:35 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.: Clean Up Time. Children and staff clean up activity time activities.

10:45 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Children and staff gather together as they prepare to go outside.

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon: Outside. The length of time outside will depend on the needs and desires of the children.

12:00 p.m. - 12:20 p.m.: Recap Meeting. Group comes together again to recap their morning, read stories, act our story plays, etc…

12:20 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.: Lunch. Wash hands. Prepare for and eat lunch.

12:45 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Dismissal. The half day children wrap up and are dismissed as their parent or caretaker arrive.

Kids' Club

1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.: Kids' Club Transition. Various materials and activities are set up to facilitate the transition between the Half Day and Kids' Club. These often include crayons, markers, scissors, tape, as well as listening to stories, playing table games, etc..

1:30 p.m. - 2:10 p.m.: Rest. Kids' Club children rest on mats with books, clipboards and crayons and/or materials conducive to quiet play. Children are welcome to bring quiet items from home, also, if they choose.

2:10 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Afternoon Snack. Children wash hands and prepare for afternoon snack.

2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Kids' Club Activities. Activities are planned on a monthly basis. These include science, indoor/outdoor games, arts & crafts, baking, and stories.

3:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.: Children have the opportunity to choose activities around the classroom and/or at the playground. Children will have the opportunity to work independently or in small groups.

3:45 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.: Dismissal. Kids' Club children wrap up and prepare to leave.

Kids' Club Plus

4:00 p.m. - 4:20 p.m.: Kids' Club Plus Group Meeting. Children and staff come together to recap, reflect and discuss the day's activities. Discuss preparations for Open Studio.

4:20 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Open Studio. Classroom materials will be available to children. Children will have the opportunity work independently or in small groups based on their interests. Late afternoon snack is also offered to children during this time.

5:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.: Story Time.

5:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.: Dismissal. Kids' Club Plus children wrap up and prepare to leave.
